As I said on the main page, my name is Aelfwynn Quicksilver Riverglade.
Of course, that is not the name I was born with. It is the name I
have chosen. I believe it reflects my personality more truly than
James, my "real" name. James, I believe, means "the supplanter."
Now I ask you, what kind of name is that for a kid?
Aelfwynn is a Saxon name which means "elf-friend." I think that fits
me perfectly, especially since I have loved the fair folk since I was a
child. I chose Quicksilver to represent the mercurial aspect of my
mind. My mind, my plans, and my life in general are always changing.
Riverglade, oddly enough, was the surname of a character of mine.
I enjoy writing short stories, and one of my recurring characters is Elfwynn
Riverglade. I began writing about her in middle school, long before
I found out that Aelfwynn (and its alternate spelling, Elfwynn) are real
names.

Etymology of First Names
Before I get too involved in talking about myself, let me tell you a bit
about my amigos. You can follow this link to see the page devoted to my
friends, both online and in real life.

Well, now that I've gotten that out of the way, I can continue with my
ego-stroking. What would you like to know about me? First off,
I'm 21 years old, although I feel like one of those people who has "an
old soul." I believe in reincarnation, but not in the same way that
most people do. I believe that when we die our souls shatter, and
the shards then scatter through the Universe. Some are embedded in
new people, others find their way into a plant, an animal, or even a rock.
I believe that life is created when enough of these shards come together;
I believe that they are the "spark" of life.
Okay, that's enough philosophy for today. I suppose I should tell
you a little more about myself. I am currently a junior in college,
and I am studying anything I can get my hands on. I have gone through
so many fields of study that I just laugh when people ask me what my major
is. Right now I am concentrating on a Humanities major with a minor
in Asian Studies, but who knows what tomorrow will bring? I certainly
don't.

You may wonder what I do for a living. Well, so do I. I am
currently unemployed, but in the past I have been many things. I
was a self defense instructor for a number of years, and that is still
by far the best job I have ever had. Do not be mistaken! I will never
teach anyone to fight.
I teach self defense, and I teach martial arts as an art form.
A sword, in and of itself, is a beautiful thing with no natural inclination
toward good or evil. The intent comes from the hands that wield the
sword.
This lovely lady is my girlfriend, Jan. We met about a year ago when
we both worked in the same store, and we began dating after just a few
weeks. We've been together ever since, and I can't imagine being
with anyone else. I love her with all my heart. If you want
