I began reading the works of Isaac Asimov when I was young. I must have
been in middle school when I first read Foundation, and I liked
it so much that I quickly read that entire series of novels (although I
did have to wait a while for some, since they were not yet written!)
As you probably know, Asimov's name is practically synonymous with science
fiction. He was born in the Soviet Union, but at the age of three his parents
emigrated to the United States, with a young Isaac stowed away in their
luggage. At the age of nine, he found the love of his life (in a science
fiction magazine.) Two years later he began writing stories, and he submitted
his first work at the age of 18. It was declined, but four months later
he managed to publish his first book. It was his novel Nightfall,
published in 1941, that established his name in the science fiction genre
and assured his future.
Isaac Asimov has written so many novels that I don't imagine I'll ever
read them all, but I will certainly enjoy trying! As of 1990, he had written
over 340 books. (The mind boggles.)
I don't have much by way of online information about this wonderful man,
but you can always try:
